Frequently asked questions
What should I bring on the 4×4 desert excursion?
Sun protection
Sunglasses
A scarf or hat
Comfortable shoes
Water
A camera or phone
When is the best time for the tour?
Early morning and late afternoon are cooler and offer better light for photos. On full-day tours the guides plan breaks in shaded areas. In August we drive almost only at sunrise or after 17:00, because the midday heat among the dunes is too much; if a sandstorm blows up we move the departure by a few hours.
Are 4×4 desert tours across the dunes safe?
Yes, they are. The routes are smooth and the drivers are experienced in adapting the pace to the group. Always tell your guide if you have any particular needs.
Can I combine a 4×4 excursion with a camel, quad or buggy tour?
Absolutely. Many travellers choose a 4×4 excursion during the day and a camel ride, or a quad or buggy tour, at sunset. Both can be combined in a single day.
