15-day tour from Casablanca: Tangier, the Sahara, Zagora and Essaouira

Duration
15 days
Departure from
Casablanca
Type
Private
Price
from 750 €

Description

Fifteen days in a loop that closes where it began, at Casablanca airport, and that adds two regions the shorter routes leave out: Tangier, on the Strait, and Zagora, at the far end of the Draa Valley.

The trip first runs up the Atlantic to Tangier, with the Kasbah Museum and the American Legation, then turns inland for Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes and two days in Fes. The crossing to the Sahara is broken by a night in Midelt, so you reach Merzouga on day seven without a single endless stage; then come the night at Camel Trips Camp, reached by camel, and a full day of desert by 4x4 among nomad settlements and the gnawa music of Khamlia.

From the Todra Gorge and the Dades the road drops into the Draa Valley, past palm groves and kasbahs, as far as Zagora, then climbs back towards Aït Ben Haddou and the Tizi n’Tichka. Two nights in Marrakech and one in Essaouira round things off, among ramparts, woodcarvers’ workshops and sea air, before a final night in Casablanca.

Choose it if you have a full fortnight, want the north and the deep south in the same trip, and would rather have the distances spread thinly over more days. Breakfasts and dinners are included.

Frequently asked questions

Is the tour private or a group tour?

It is usually a private tour, meaning only your group travels with a dedicated driver-guide. This allows greater flexibility and comfort.

How do I book and pay for the tour?

You can book through the travel agency's website or by email. A deposit is required to confirm your place. Payments are usually accepted by PayPal, bank transfer or credit card.

Which cities are included in this 15-day tour?

The tour covers Casablanca, the imperial cities (Rabat, Meknes, Fes, Marrakech) and the north (Tangier, Chefchaouen), the Merzouga desert, Berber villages, the Atlas Mountains and Essaouira.

What should I prepare for the tour?

Bring comfortable walking shoes, layered clothing (warm days, cool nights), sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), swimwear and a travel adapter (type C or E/F).

What kind of transport is used for the trip?

You travel in an air-conditioned SUV, a van or a comfortable minivan, depending on the number of travellers.

We have picked August dates — is the night in the desert bearable?

August heat in the Sahara is intense and sandstorms are not unusual. When the weather turns we have you sleep in an air-conditioned hotel in Merzouga rather than at the camp: we would sooner change the programme than put you through an uncomfortable night.
