Description
Five days that stay entirely in the northern half of Morocco. You set out from Tangier, work your way down as far as Casablanca and come back up the Atlantic to the city you started from: a loop rather than a crossing, which suits anyone coming over from Spain who has to leave from the same port or airport. There is no desert in this programme; the time goes to the Rif mountains and the historic cities instead.
Day one crosses the Rif by way of Tetouan and ends in Chefchaouen, where you sleep in a riad inside the blue medina. The second lines up the Roman ruins of Volubilis and Meknes, with Bab El Mansour and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, before Fes. In Fes a local guide takes you through a full day: Al Quaraouiyine, the tanneries, the Attarine Museum, the Mellah. Then Rabat, a night in Casablanca and, on the final morning, Asilah with its whitewashed walls and street art.
The four nights are split between Chefchaouen, Fes (two) and Casablanca. This is the trip to choose if your days are few, you want to understand the north and you would rather keep the drives short.

Tour itinerary
Day 1
Tangier > Tetouan > Chefchaouen (Blue City):
We begin with a scenic drive through the Rif Mountains, passing through the city of Tetouan. At the wheel is one of our drivers — Ahmed, for example — who knows the bends of the Rif by heart and where it is worth pulling over. Along the way we stop to enjoy breathtaking views before arriving in the picturesque town of Chefchaouen, nestled at the foot of the mountains. The medina is strongly influenced by Spanish architecture, as the town was part of “Spanish Morocco”. The central square is lined with lively craft shops, and you will find many restaurants and rooftop cafés, including the one at your riad. Enjoy a relaxing evening with fresh mountain air and a breathtaking view.
Day 2
Chefchaouen > Volubilis > Meknes > Fes:
After a delicious breakfast, we continue to Volubilis, passing through Ouazzane and several Rif villages. At Volubilis we explore the well-preserved Roman ruins and immerse ourselves in Morocco’s ancient history. Then we head to Meknes, where we stop for lunch and visit landmarks such as the historic medina walls, the Bab El Mansour gate and the shrine of Moulay Ismail. In the late afternoon we reach Fes, where we spend the night.
Day 3
Fes city tour:
Today we explore Fes, the oldest imperial city in Morocco. We start at the gate of the Royal Palace, followed by the Jewish quarter, the first Mellah in Morocco, dating back to the 16th century. The highlights of the day are the University of Al Quaraouiyine (the oldest in the world), the famous tanneries, the Attarine Museum and the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. After lunch, you visit several artisan cooperatives and end the day with a panoramic view over the entire medina.
Day 4
Fes > Rabat > Casablanca:
Fes is divided into three parts: Fes el Bali (a UNESCO World Heritage site), known for its maze of more than 9,000 narrow streets; Fes-Jdid, home to the Jewish quarter; and the modern “Ville Nouvelle”, developed during the French era. After exploring Fes, we head to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, and then continue to Casablanca for the night.
Day 5
Casablanca > Asilah > Tangier:
The last day takes us from Casablanca to the charming coastal town of Asilah, known for its whitewashed walls and colourful street art. After exploring Asilah, we continue to Tangier, where the tour ends.
